Doctoral Scholarship
Please note that as of April 1, 2010, the doctoral scholarship program is under review and in need of funding to continue. As a result we are no longer in the position to offer new scholarships.
Doctoral Scholarship Program
VISION: The Barnabas Venture seeks to promote the development of sound church leadership in French-Speaking Africa. Theological education is a necessary element in church leadership, since sound doctrine and practice are absolutely essential to a healthy church. There are numerous theological schools in French-speaking Africa, but they lack sufficient well-trained African faculty members.
PROGRAM: Since May, 2004, the Barnabas Venture has provided partial and full scholarships to African faculty in doctoral training in Western world. The church in French-Speaking Africa has limited financial resources due to the extreme poverty in the region. The cost of doctoral training in Western countries is beyond the ability of the French-African churches. Therefore, the Barnabas Venture lends a hand to our African scholars in the hopes they will later be able to provide doctoral training on Africa soil. Thus, our scholarship is designed to promote the highest level candidates, who will in their turn, be able to be mentors of students at the masters and doctoral levels.
SCOLARSHIP POLICY & APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Read this document to learn more about our policies and how to apply for a scholarship (doctoral.pdf) The next deadline for application is March, 2010 for Fall, 2010.
CURRENT SCHOLARS: The Barnabas Venture is currently giving partial scholarships to following students.
GRADUATES:
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: Each member of the committee holds a PhD in theology or biblical studies and is able to speak French.
Gregory Bloomquist, PhD is a New Testament Professor at St. Paul University in Ottawa and resident scholar at St. Mark the Evangelist Church.
Peter Dunn, PhD is the director of the Barnabas Venture.
Peter Robinson, PhD is the priest of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Richvale, Ontario, and an adjunct professor of Systematic Theology at Wycliffe College and Tyndale Seminary.

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Right now I am pursuing my PhD studies at Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) in Biblical Studies. I did my MDIV in the same field in this school. My vision is to go back in DR Congo upon my PhD training to offer my contribution in training other servants of God.
I am badly in need of scholarship since I did not get a full funding of my studies. I will be grateful if you come to my rescue. Your contribution towards my studies will be a great input in the establishment of the Kingdom of God in DR Congo. Thank you.
